  • friendly toward all, friends few (Mary, Martha, Lazarus)
  • Kids liked Jesus & ran to him
  • Lost people liked Jesus & invited him to parties
  • Religious people did not like Jesus (non-relational)

#2. The law of capacity

Proverbs 18:24 [ESV] A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.

  • finite humanity (Jesus did not heal or meet w/everyone)
  • Jesus took sabbaths, naps, breaks, withdrew from crowds to be alone

#3. The law of priority

Matthew 6:33 seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness

Exodus 20:5 I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God,

  • 5,000, 120, 12, 3 (jealousy)

Ecclesiastes 3:1,5b For everything there is a season… a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing…
