Have you ever tried to make a deal with God?

When we’re in pain or struggling to cope with a problem we’re facing, sometimes we make promises to God. “God, if You do this for me, I promise I will do this for You.”

But in Matthew 5:34, Jesus tells us not to give an oath at all. Because the risk is that we’re really trying to motivate God (or even manipulate Him) with our behavior.
