27 Mar Everything God Creates, Satan Counterfeits
Daniel 7:25-27 – He shall speak words against the Most High, and shall wear out the saints of the Most High, and shall think to change the times and the law; and they shall be given into his hand for a time, times, and half a time. But the court shall sit in judgment, and his dominion shall be taken away, to be consumed and destroyed to the end. And the kingdom and the dominion and the greatness of the kingdoms under the whole heaven shall be given to the people of the saints of the Most High; his kingdom shall be an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey him.’
When I was a kid, there was a drive-in movie theater near our house that was turned into a swap meet on the weekends. I remember being amazed at the great deals on everything from name brand clothing and shoes, to handbags and luggage. Then, I was told that pretty much everything for sale there was a forgery or fake.
Our planet is Satan’s swap meet. Everything that God creates, Satan counterfeits.
The ancient prophet Daniel reveals that the Antichrist is the counterfeit of the real Christ, and that the world system is the counterfeit to the real Kingdom of Christ. As Christians, our home is in the Kingdom, though for a little while we are soldiers on mission in this world seeking to set captives free with the good news of Jesus Christ. Frankly, this is why life is exhausting and “shall wear out the saints of the Most High”.
The good news is that God shows up to rescue the weary. This is the hope of the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. People who do not have any hope that King Jesus is coming to rescue us understandably live with fear, anxiety, despair, and panic. For those who live in faith of His coming and the eternal healing of all that is broken, we can do as Daniel did who “kept the matter in my heart (7:28).” The hope of the return of King Jesus is the only way to have a healthy heart in this hurtful world.
How has Satan brought counterfeits into your life recently?
