28 Jul The Grace of God (Part 20): Grace for Sinner and Saint
Indeed, grace is not only for the sinner but also for the saint. Glorifying grace will be the hallmark of our eternal state when the work of God’s grace is revealed in full glory, with Jesus seated upon what Hebrews 4:16 calls His “throne of grace.”
On that day when glorifying grace has completed its powerful transformation of all creation, including our bodies, the blind will see the glory of God, the lame will run to the throne of God, the deaf will hear the voice of God, the weeping will have every tear wiped from their eyes by the hand of God, and all things will be made new by the pure, free, sovereign, unending, inexhaustible, irresistible, efficacious, powerful, glorious, unparalleled, awe-inspiring, praise-evoking, life- changing, earth-shaking, mind-bending, heart-melting grace of God!
Indeed, I do believe in the grace of God. But I must confess that sometimes I easily forget and wander from it. Why? Because it all seems too good to be true. God’s grace is true and found only in, by, through, and for Jesus Christ. Therefore, I keep reminding myself of the grace of God and its sufficiency for every aspect of every day of my existence.
Maybe you are like me?
God in His grace has seen fit to give me my wife, Grace, who is gracious with me as a constant reminder of His grace. I find that people are often gifts of God’s grace to us. This is true of my wife, in whom the Spirit of grace resides and through whom the grace of God is extended to me. Together Grace and I are finding 2 Peter 3:18 to be a fitting summary of our life, and conclusion to this devotional, as we “grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.”
Which people in your life help remind you of God’s grace? How can you thank them today?
