24 Jun Jesus Christ Can Forgive Your Sin
Mark 2:5-7,8 – When Jesus saw their faith, he said…”Son, your sins are forgiven”…“Why does this man speak like that? He is blaspheming! Who can forgive sins but God alone?” And immediately Jesus, perceiving in his spirit that they thus questioned within themselves, said to them, “Why do you question these things in your hearts?”
In today’s culture, and probably in every culture, because, as Ecclesiastes 1:9 says, “there is nothing new under the sun”, we’ve lost the idea of sin. Everything is about “our truth”, what we feel, and lots of gray area rather than black and white as the Bible prescribes.
Our culture teaches that we are each our own highest authority. No one can judge us, no one can tell us we’re wrong, and if someone is hurt by us, it must be their own shortcoming, not ours.
It’s a lot easier for us to point out others’ shortcomings than our own. But we need to use the Bible as a mirror, to see our own sin, rather than binoculars to see their sin. We need to deal with our own sin and let God deal with theirs.
Jesus not only sees our sin but knows the secret sins of our heart, mind, and soul. He knows our thoughts, motives, lusts, desires, bitterness, anger, pride, and self-righteousness. Some of us show it and others of us conceal it, but we can’t conceal anything from Jesus.
All that being said, the incredible news of the Gospel is that Jesus forgives our sins. He sees and knows all but, because of His death, burial, and resurrection, He will forgive our sins if we will simply and earnestly repent.
What would you unspeak? What would you undo? What do you regret? Bring these to Jesus in repentance and transfer the burden to Him so you can show forgiveness to others.
