Visions are Like Home Security Feeds

Visions are Like Home Security Feeds

Revelation 4:1 – After this I looked, and behold, a door standing open in heaven! And the first voice, which I had heard speaking to me like a trumpet, said, “Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after this.”

How many of you have cameras and an alarm system in your house as well as a security app on your phone to look at your home while you’re away? In the Bible, a vision is not so unsimilar to watching the feed of a home security system – our home is Heaven, but we’re not yet there.

In Revelation 4, Jesus’ best friend John is writing this about a vision he had of Heaven. While writing this, he’s an older man who’s alone in prison and survived being boiled alive. He was certainly in less-than-ideal circumstances but, because He’s Spirit-filled, He’s able to see this amazing vision of Heaven he recorded for us to read today.

To worship God, we must be in the Spirit and, without being Spirit-filled, we cannot know, love or worship God. Because John was Spirit-filled, Heaven and earth connected, and he was able to see into the unseen realm with God the Father and Jesus on their thrones and the Spirit going between the two realms. If John had instead worshipped the idea of comfort or self-reliance, he would’ve had no joy in his circumstances but, because he followed God’s example as a worshipper, he was able to share this incredible account with us.

Imagine how amazing it would be to have this vision from Revelation 4. Read the entire chapter and try to picture how incredible this would look.
