29 Jul What’s Your Spain?
Romans 15:22-24 – This is the reason why I have so often been hindered from coming to you. But now, since I no longer have any room for work in these regions, and since I have longed for many years to come to you, I hope to see you in passing as I go to Spain, and to be helped on my journey there by you, once I have enjoyed your company for a while.
Many of us have bucket lists, and that is not inherently a bad thing. But it’s also not a bad thing if we don’t accomplish everything on said list. Ultimately, our vision for our life should be bigger than our life.
For all of us who love and serve the Lord Jesus, God has placed a dream in our heart and a ministry calling on our lives. For Paul, that was getting to Spain to continue sharing the gospel. So, the question I pose to you is: What’s your Spain?
What is the thing (or things) that get you out of bed in the morning? What do you dream about that seems larger than life but that you can ultimately accomplish, step by step, with the help of the Holy Spirit?
We often focus on the arrival, but God focuses on the journey. Especially as Americans, we set hard deadlines that are impossible to meet and then beat ourselves up for not being superhuman enough to meet them. As long as we’re heading in the direction God intends, it’s ok if we don’t accomplish everything we wanted. If we go in the direction God has for us (following the compass), He will be the one to set the timing (we don’t need to follow our own clock).
What is your “Spain”? How can you follow the compass and not the clock to get there, just taking one step at a time to follow in the steps God has for you?
