07 Jan Worship is a Human Issue
Hebrews 13:15–16 – “Through him then let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that acknowledge his name. Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.”
The typical human life is said to be about 27,000 days. Most humans are said to speak about a half a million words in our lifetime (some of us many, many more).
When we hear the word “worship”, especially as Christians, we most likely think about singing specifically at church. However, worship isn’t just a Christian issue, it’s a human issue.
What makes us happy? What makes us upset? What do we talk about in those half a million words? How do we spend those 27,000 some days?
Who or what we live for, long for, and love indicates the object of our worship. We’re all worshipping someone or something; people just worship in different ways.
For the Christian, this passages in Hebrews 13:15-16 that has essentially served as our functional definition of worship throughout this series, speaks of adoration and action – worshipping God upwards and doing good towards people outward. This is the heart of Christian worship.
What do you spend most of your time, words, actions, and efforts on? Pray for ways you can give God more of your time and effort and thus more of your worship.
