30 Oct God’s Word at Work | Part 6
Hebrews 4:12 tells us that,”…the word of God is living and active…”
Here at Mark Driscoll Ministries we are committed to helping get the soul saving, life changing, eternity altering word of God out to the world. Sometimes, people are kind enough to email us and let us know how the Holy Spirit used Bible teaching in their life. We know that any good that happens is by God’s grace and for God’s glory, and we love hearing about both. These testimonies we receive are incredibly encouraging to us and give us opportunities to pray for people and rejoice at God’s work in their life.
So, we thought it would be fun to share some testimonies of God’s Word at work in people’s lives. After a long week, some good news goes a long way. We hope and pray these testimonies cause you to thank God, pray for people, and enjoy God’s word for yourself as you share it with others. Lastly, THANK YOU to everyone who supports this ministry!
This week we are sharing some good news from people newly married and engaged to be married.
From Greg
So I’m 25 and I’m getting married in 12 days to the love of my life. She loves our Lord Jesus, and she is delightful and kind and I’m so excited to spend the rest of my life with her. As the day approaches, I’ve been thinking a lot about my life so far, and the various ways the providence and grace of God has been guiding and protecting me to this point where, I’m about to receive yet another gift from God I completely don’t deserve. And my pastor…has taken a break from preaching through Genesis to teach on the “4 fools of Proverbs”. In it he’s been talking about how young people are foolish and in need of instruction. And to be honest, I started thinking about how it is only by the grace of God that as a young man throughout college I got really excited about the Bible and about learning from preaching and teaching. And that got me thinking about you because, you were one of my go-to guys for preaching and teaching. I ate so many meals in college with your sermon series playing on my laptop. I remember getting mad when my internet connection was slow and the sermons were buffering haha. It was a great time of life, and so completely formative, and I look back on it, and your faithful preaching, with a lot of fondness and thankfulness. Knowing the difficult season you have been in I want to encourage you with the knowledge that the foundations you laid in the hearts of young men was not in vain. The Lord really used you so much in the lives of men to shape and mold them to be like Christ. Nothing that has happened to you can undo the work God did through you. I will likely never meet you in this life, but I do feel a genuine love for you as a brother and father in the Lord. I look forwards to worshipping King Jesus alongside you in heaven. If you are ever up in Canada..it would be my honour to have you in my home. I pray that the Lord Jesus gives you peace and insight as you process everything that was occurred. I also pray that your ministry would have a second act, whatever that may be, as the Lord sees fit. And that in this time your relationship with God, your wife, and your kids, would absolutely flourish, and that the Driscoll family would be well provided for.
From Dylan,
Thank you. For the past 3-4 years I have been listening to your sermons…I went to the Act Like Men conference in Hamilton Ontario Canada and was one of the guys that when you talked about the weak link in the chain of faith and asked us to stand I was one of those people. I just wanted you to know that. I was a weak link. I was dating a girl and was planning on marrying her and that conference helped me realize I need to grow up. That December I purposed she said yes and we are coming up on our second wedding anniversary! We both love Jesus and want to serve Him and each other. She works for an organization called Youth for Christ and I’m working a landscaping job and starting Bible college this September.
From Michael,
I am a 19 year old from a no-name town (Sweetwater) in Tennessee. I work at a bank, I’m engaged to be married in 2016, and have been called to preach since I was 11. With that said, years ago a friend of mine introduced me to a few videos (via YouTube) of “this guy who’s like a real guy. He doesn’t water anything down or whatever, but it’s like he knows the people he’s talking to.” The idea of a minister not so anonymously pointing out into a world, but rather grabbing the shoulders of his friends and family and saying, “Listen. I’ve got to tell you this and you can take it for what you will” just seemed Biblical to me. So I looked you up (at this point I’ll start saying ‘you’ because I hope you *Mark are reading it). Of course the more “popular” videos came up. [Mark Driscoll screaming HOW DARE YOU!!] But once I got past the shocking and memorable messages and started listening to what was really the norm for you, I started seeing that God had really invested a lot in you and you hadn’t left much on the table. It seemed like you’d taken what God offered and had run with it.
From Casey,
We heard you at the Real Marriage event…That was a life changing event for my wife and I.
