Roe V. Wade Overturned | Real Women

Roe V. Wade Overturned | Real Women

As a pastor’s wife, I have listened to and cried with many women as they were grieving and going through the healing process after having an abortion. Today is a historic day in protecting pre-born children as well as pregnant women from harming their bodies! With Roe being overturned by the Supreme Court, we pray that women will make the choice to protect both their body that God created and the body of the baby that God knit together in her womb. For those that have experienced the tragedy of abortion, whether they knew the facts or not, God has healing for them. The emotional grief and physical toll it takes on a woman’s body is not talked about by pro-choice advocates because they care about “choice” more than a woman’s and child’s well-being.
There are resources for healing, and we want to make sure those are made aware of for those that want to walk that journey. God loves you and your aborted child! For those that are in Christ Jesus, “there is therefore now no condemnation” (Rom. 8:1). We all have things that we’ve done or something that was done to us that we wish wasn’t a part of our story, and our enemy, Satan, wants to use that to shame, condemn, and isolate us. Jesus has healing instead.
You may have had thoughts like: Isn’t keeping it a secret easier? Isn’t numbing the feelings and moving on the best solution? It won’t effect the rest of my life right? I wish the answer could be a simple yes and you could move on. But just like any sin or brokenness in our life, if we don’t work through it with the Lord (and healthy Christian community) it will be a dark place in our soul that keeps popping up and brings anxiety, doubt, anger, and insecurity, rather than freedom, forgiveness, joy, and confidence in God’s love for us. True freedom comes when we choose to heal.
Grab a journal, your Bible, and some kleenex. Pray and start writing your story and what comes to mind. Be honest about the pain, the lies, and the feelings that emerge. Ask God to forgive you, heal you, take the condemnation of the enemy from you, and this will start the process of grieving and walking in freedom!
I’m praying for you and want to join other Christian women in walking this process with you. “So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most” (Heb. 4:16 NLT)
